What is Universal Astrology?

Postby Sam_Geppi on Fri Jan 23, 2009 12:48 am

Hello,
I am Sam Geppi - called "Sadasiva" by some. I have been practicing Vedic Astrology full-time since 2004, teaching, writing and doing readings.

Universal Astrology is an approach that I have been developing as a teaching tool. It glorifies methods that are based on universal principles (such as the elements, modalities, yin/yang and many others) and absolute / observable spatial phenomena (Nocturnal dirnal, Moon phases, Aspets, Transits, Combustion, etc) that will exist common to any chart and relevant regardless of "Interpretive System".

It is my feeling that the reason all "systems" work is because of these Universal principles. As much as we love to argue about our systems, we cannot ruin the fact that there are more things in common between systems than things different about them.

I use the Vedic astrology systems because it is so deeply rooted in the culture of Yoga and thus grounded in so many universal principles. But i also find those who have studied Hellenistic and Medieval Astrology, to be similarly grounded in their practice and understanding.

I think the world is moving toward a greater synthesis of astrology systems and see "Universal Astrology" as facilitating that synthesis. Techniques grounded in observable phenonema and universal principles will transcend systems - always.

Beyond this philosophy, I will be introducing topics that highlight this "Universal Astrology" approach.

I just wanted to introduce the idea briefly because most do not know what this is.

I look forward to our discussions.

Best wishes,
Sam (Sadasiva)

I like the concept of a universal astrology...

Are midpoints in the mix as well?

Midpoints?

Absolutely.

Everything that has to do with astronomical phenomena is especially important to astrology.

The midpoint is there astronomically.

Combust, retrograde, the deeper meanings of planets signs and houses - progressions to natal planets, transits.. basically everything except Zodiacs and the other "system specific techniques" are Universal in nature.

A lot of sharing is possible. You can mix and match techniques from all systems as long as they are based on Universal truths.
