Indian / Vedic Astrology Forum #3

This forum will accomodate any and all approaches to what is generally called "Vedic Astrology" - the astrology that is connected to (what we now call) India.

All approaches, techniques and styles will be honored.

In these fascinating times - the internet allows us to process ideas and communicate with each other in real time beyond all physical boundaries. This has given rise to accelerated information processing and growth in all areas.

In Astrology now, the Eastern and Western worlds seem to be converging and merging in new ways with many new ideas to ponder.. and there is truly a renaissance happening. There is also the potential for a polarizing effect if we are not careful, diligent and logical about the things we are uncovering and what they really mean.

I am grateful for all of this new information and research. It has definitely forced me to face my biases head-on and grow. Several years ago i was definitely more a "Vedic Astrology snob" to some extent. So I have been reformed!!

My Bias?
Since I am a moderator i think it is important to state my biases up front.

Personally, I have never seen where any two astrologers do everything the same way - or even ANYTHING the same way. Therefore how can there be one empirically "Right" way to practice astrology OR any system of astrology.

That does not mean certain PRINCIPLES are not right or correct, but applying those principles,. (e.g. proclaiming absolutely RIGHT techniques at the exclusion of others) is the stuff of folly to me.

This premise just sets us up for endless debates, right/wrong thinking and (to me at least) - wasting time. I marvel at the ingenuity and creativity of every high-level astrologer (and even just interested students). One would think that every astrological idea and method would have already been thought of.. but no way. Every astrologer has a totally unique approach.. a fascinating hybrid of Zodiacs, methods, techniques, etc.. that is totally their own.

In Indian astrology we have an endless source of inspiration in Brihat Parahsara - with infinite universal principles to build upon and kindle our own unique genuis.

That is my largest bias and you are free to challenge me on it.

Let's Go
So we will take that astrological ride here, with the glorious Indian civilization as the backdrop - where the astrology of India merges seamlessly with the other sister Sciences of Yoga, Sanksrit, Ayurveda, Hast Mudrika, Vaaastu.

I assume that all in this ACT forum of (invitation only) astrologers have come to their conclusions based on diligence, heart, sincerity and a confluence of sound principles intersecting with your own ingenious approach, techniques and organization.

I look forward to hearing your ideas and sharing my ideas as well.

I Will Do my Best
Like many of us, I am a practicing astrologer with a busy client session and teaching load, but I will do my best to at least put forth a few discussion a week as I can. I do a lot of writing (blogging for different websites and to my newsletter list and students) - and will include some that here as a basis for some discussions.

Others are also encouraged to start discussions and have raging debates about whatever you like, as I don't see this forum as a place to advance MY ideas / to impose my will on the astrology world.

I will be quite happy to see many discussions about many Indian astrology subjects / techniques, approaches happening simultaneously without me.

Best wishes,
Sam Geppi (Sadasiva)
