Hi Carolyn - I've been mining meteorological databases and trying to do what John Goad did, but with modern tools. Specifically, I'm working mostly with Sun-Saturn alignments in several regions and have built a case for what I think are atmospheric tides modulated by planets in addition to sun and moon. I'll use this material in my disseration which will be in a few months. A piece of some earlier work on this was sent to the NCGR Journal - I assume they will publish it.

Carolyn asks: What did John Goad accomplish? Do you think he contributed a lot to Astrometeorology?

Carolyn replies: George McCormack and more currently Ken Ring talk about air tides. Does your information go beyond understanding that the Moon carries an air tide with it? Are you more into the jet stream? Since Uranus has been Pisces, the JS has been all over the place! McCormack related Uranus to the jet stream. What do you think?

Carolyn replies: Heartiest congratulations for your accomplishments and I hope the article is published soon. I went to the geocosmic site and didn't find your article in the most recent journals. I would think it would be important work for all to see. I think long range weather forecasting is the most up and coming facet of astrology that will be beneficial to the general public.

I think John Goad did all that could be expected of someone living in the mid 17th century who was trying to put astrometeorology on a sound foundation. The big problem for astrology is that most of what it does cannot be put into units, and therefore can't be measured and analyzed. This is less so for astrometeorology, but even in Goad's time quantitative data was scarce. The thermometer had been invented, but was not available, and the same for the barometer. Goad knew about these tools, but didn't use them. A decade or so later and he would have. The other thing about Goad was that he was a follower of Kepler and was focusing on aspects, not static charts.
