Medical Astrology

Hi All

I have spent much of my holiday in France trying to make sense of Valens' book 2 chapter 37. Concerning Injury and Ailment, with Illustrations for Each Zōidion —for example, Aries Causes a Certain Injury or Ailment, and so forth.

Unfortunately I can hardly make sense of it in trying to apply it to actual cases. I understand the theory, but cannot relate it to any concrete examplecharts I have. I have tried many, many angles of approach (zodiacal releasing, bodyparts from fortuna, from Spirit, etc), but it eludes me.

I'm particularly interested why some lives are so strongly influenced by ailments (I have for example a nephew who is a diabetic type 1 from his 9th year onward) as to be completely defined by them, and of course when it suddenly strikes and goes away, and more such issues.

Are there forummembers who have any experience with this material in modern examples?

Please illuminate.

Thanks
Martien Hermes

Dear martien.

I think I am a good example for studying Valens' technique. Here is my natal data:

march 27th of 1982, 7:00 AM, Rio de Janeiro.

Look at my Fortune. It is in the Bull, second image from the Horoskopos and carried to it by division. Her domicile Lord is Afrodite in the Water Bearer, the good spirit of my chart.

the Water-Bearer signifies the limbs. In 2007 I felt from a wall and broke my right tibia. Due to the first correction-surgery, I had a two-recurrent osteomielitis (an infection inside the marrow of my tibia). To treat the infection, there were more two surgeries, to "wash" the marrow of the bone, and after the surgeries two series of a 28-day treatment using Oxaciline, six shots a day, which practically destroyed the superficial veins of my arms. :| After the osteolielitis, they they put an external fixation on me.

Two years later, after all this nightmare, thanks God I am not impaired nor manged (and, I hope, for a lifetime, )

Dear Mr. Veronese,

Can you possibly be more specific with dates, especially the date of your fall, and surgeries if you remember. Thank you.

Mr. Veronese,

Thank you for this example. I'll try to make sense of it.

Hi Martien,
I am a medical astrologer living in Seattle, Washington, USA and work with about 15 different health care practitioners here of all different kinds: naturopaths, homeopaths, acupuncturists, western medical doctors [allopaths], psychologists, clinical hypnotherapists, medical intuitives, etc. I have been doing this since 2004 and teach medical astrology classes to students of the local Bastyr Naturopathic College which is considered a premier international institution in the medical community. I have dealt with a wide range of serious to mild illnesses.

I do medical astrology with modern astrological methods and have incorporated many Hellenistic methods into my cases over the last year. I am not familiar with Valen's book, however. I am very able to converse with your question quoted below and may have some things to say that might interest you if you are interested:

"I'm particularly interested why some lives are so strongly influenced by ailments (I have for example a nephew who is a diabetic type 1 from his 9th year onward) as to be completely defined by them, and of course when it suddenly strikes and goes away, and more such issues."

I would be happy to converse with you on this, perhaps start with an email exchange and then preferably by phone. I don't wish to type out what is a very complicated and intricate methodology as I'm not a fast typist and would necessarily involve some case histories in a public forum. If you are interested you can reply back to me at this forum.

Mr. Damus (Hi Steve)

How very kind of you, thank you.
I am most interested in these methods, especially the hellenistic stuff.
How do we go about this?
